Authorities found up to $1.5 million worth of marijuana in a major bust in Winnebago County.
Capt. David Mack of the sheriff’s department says they were acting on a tip when they searched a home in the town of Vinland. He says they discovered 475 plants, and 43 pounds of cut marijuana.
Mack says they did not expect to find such a big operation when they went to the home with a search warrant. He says it’s the largest marijuana operation he’s seen in 20 years on the job.
Deputies took two people into custody — Gerald Walters, 64, and Linda Hennessy, 58.
Mack says the tip came from the Oneida County drug task force.
