Brewers cough up 2-run lead in 8th, fall to Cubs

June 29, 2006 By WRN Contributor

Bill Hall broke a 1-1 tie in the 8th inning with a 2-run homer, giving the Brewers a 3-1 lead on the Chicago Cubs. The lead didn't last long. Dan Kolb served up a 2-run homer to Derek Lee in the bottom half of the 8th to tie it. The Cubs went on to score 3-more times, ending a 9-game home field losing streak with a 6-3 win over the Brewers. The loss prevented the Brewers once again from climbing over the .500 mark and it ruined a very good effort from Brewers starter Dave Bush who allowed 1 run on 7 hits in nearly 7-innings of work for the Brewers. The Brewers and Cubs will play the final game of the 4-game series this afternoon. Brewers left hander Doug Davis has been scratched from his scheduled start. Geremi Gonzales will get the start instead, facing a Cubs team he once pitched for.
