June 30, 2006 By WRN Contributor

When Doug Davis couldn't make his scheduled start on Thursday because of tightness in his back, the Brewers went to Geremi Gonzalez and the former Cub didn't disappoint. Gonzalez worked 5 innings, allowing 2 runs and 3 hits to helpt he Brewers pull out a 5-4 win, taking 3 out of 4 from the Cubs at Wrigley Field. It's the first win for Gonzalez as a starter since May of 2005 with the Red Sox. The Brewers handed Mark Prior his 3rd straight defeat, scoring 4 of the 5 runs with 2 outs. Derrick Turnbow worked the 9th to earn his 23rd save. He struck out Ronny Cedeno with a runner on base to end it. — The Brewers open a 3-game weekend series at the Metrodome against the red hot Twins tonight. Minnesota has won 7-straight and 16 of their last 18.
