Helling gets call in game 2 tonight

June 20, 2006 By WRN Contributor

Brewers manager Ned Yost has decided to go with veteran right hander Rick Helling in game two of the Brewers series with the Detroit Tigers tonight. Helling will get the nod over 22 year old rookie right-hander Carlos Villanueva, who pitched 6 scoreless innings in a game last week against Cincinnati. Villanueva will go to the bullpen instead of being sent back down to the minors. One thing favoring Helling is his performance last year while filling in late for the injured Ben Sheets. Helling finished 2-1 with a 1.69 ERA in six starts.
