Eleven home games highlight Badger men's basketball non-conference schedule

July 24, 2006 By WRN Contributor

The Wisconsin men's basketball team will open the 2006-07 regular season on Nov. 12 at the Kohl Center against Mercer, one of 11 nonconference home games for the Badgers this season. UW will face at least eight teams that played in the postseason last year, including six that played in the 2006 NCAA Tournament. For the third consecutive season, the Badgers will play a pair of exhibition games against in-state teams. This year, the Badgers will face Division 3 schools UW-Stout (Nov. 3) and Carroll College (Nov. 8.). UW-Stout advanced to the NCAA Division 3 regional championship last year and posted a 22-7 record while Carroll finished last season 21-5 and advanced to its first-ever NCAA tournament. After tipping off the regular season with Mercer, Wisconsin will host in-state rival UW-Green Bay, marking the eighth consecutive season the two teams have squared off. The Badgers will be back in the ACC-Big Ten Challenge, facing Florida State at the Kohl Center on Nov. 28. The Badgers will also play at Marquette on Dec. 9, and have home games against UW-Milwaukee on Dec. 13 and Pittsburgh on Dec. 16.
