Packers release Cundiff

August 17, 2006 By WRN Contributor

The Green Bay Packers released kicker Billy Cundiff today. Cundiff, who played his college football at Drake, had signed with the Packers as a free agent on March 27th. He spent his first four seasons in Dallas with the Cowboys. Cundiff had been battling Dave Rayner, a 2nd year kicker out of Michigan State in training camp. The move doesn't mean the job is Rayner's. There's still a chance the Packers could bring in another kicker, either somebody that's available right now like veteran Paul Edinger, or a kicker that might get cut by another NFL team.
