Rogers named to Thorpe Award Watch List

Wisconsin senior free safety Roderick Rogers has been named to the 2006 preseason “watch list” for the Jim Thorpe Award, which goes annually to the nation's top defensive back. The winner will be announced December 7. Rogers, who is also on the Lott Trophy watch list, was a second-team All-Big Ten selection last season. He started 13 games at free safety and tied for the team lead with three interceptions. — The Badgers opened training camp workouts this week. They'll play their non-conference opener Sept. 2nd against Bowling Green.
