State Golf Open heads to final day

August 23, 2006 By WRN Contributor

Michael Harris of Shorewood takes a 3-shot lead to the final day of the Wisconsin State Open golf tournament at The Bog in Saukville. Harris shot a 7-under-par 65 to move in front of day one leader Ryan Helminen of Appleton and Kenosha amateur Todd Schaap. Helminen shot an opening round 65 on Monday, then struggled with a 75 yesterday. Harris is the defending money list champion of the Canadian Tour. He won the Michigan State Open title in 2005. The final 36 holes are on tap today.
