Underwood out for season

August 14, 2006 By WRN Contributor

Packers safety Marviel Underwood is out for the year with a knee injury that he suffered in Saturday night's 17-3 preseason loss to the Chargers. Underwood tore both the ACL and MCL and will require surgery. That will land Underwood on injured reserve and end his season. That means rookie safety Tyrone Culver (6th round, Fresno State) will take over as the teams interim starter until veteran Marquand Manuel is able to practice. Manuel has been on the physically unable to perform list with a leg injury.
