Attorney General: Looking ahead to November

September 13, 2006 By WRN Contributor

The incumbent is out. So, how does the Kathleen Falk-JB Van Hollen Attorney General's race shape up for the fall?

UW-Madison political scientist Charles Franklin thinks both candidates have some name recognition work to do statewide. He says Van Hollen has some catching up to do with Falk in that regard but he suspects a well financed campaign will help.

Franklin says there's a clear choice in the Attorney General's race between the liberal, social justice minded Falk and the conservative, law and order Van Hollen.

One problem for both candidates says Franklin is the gubernatorial campaign which now takes center stage. Franklin says the heat from that race could “suck all the air” out of the AG campaign.
