Badgers picked to finish first in WCHA

October 4, 2006 By WRN Contributor

Wisconsin and Minnesota tied for first place in the WCHA's preseason coaches' poll. North Dakota finished third in the voting. The Badgers won their first national title in 16 years last season. Between the three, 14 of last year's top scorers and playmakers in the league have left for the NHL or have graduated. The Badgers do have their goaltender back though. Brian Elliott was picked as the preseason player of the year.
