Obama in Milwakee Tuesday

October 30, 2006 By WRN Contributor

Barak Obama comes to Wisconsin this week. He may well be the most popular Democratic politician in the country, and the junior Senator from Illinois will be stumping for Governor Jim Doyle and other Democrat candidates Tuesday in Milwaukee. What about an Obama presidential bid in oh-eight? U-W Stevens Point political scientist, Ed Miller said Obama “hasn't overly pushed himself” as a presidential candidate. “He could even be considered, given the stage of his career, as a vice presidential candidate,” Miller added.

Miller noted that Obama has a moderate message, and carries none of the negative associations that saddle another popular Democrat — New York Senator Hillary Clinton. For now though, Obama is using his star power to help out fellow Democrats. The rally with Obama is scheduled for 9:00 Tuesday morning at Milwaukee's Marquette Park. Along with Doyle, Senator Herb Kohl, Congresswoman Gwen Moore and Attorney General candidate Kathleen Falk are expected to attend.
