Thousands turn out for makeover surprise

October 9, 2006 By WRN Contributor

Nearly 10-thousand people chanted “Move that bus, move that bus” and when the Extreme Makeover bus did move they let up a cheer for Christine Koepke and her four children. They had a new house compliments of the TV show, hundreds of volunteers and local builders like Larry Kreuger who said the family was just in awe.

Not only did they build a house in 100 hours but they renovated the old mill, one of Matt Koepke's pet projects before he died of cancer. Extreme Makeover TV Producer Diane Korman says they knew Matt had two wishes. One: get the old mill operating again. Two: Find time to fix his own house. So, the TV show granted both wishes in his memory.

The TV version will air November 19th.
