Wiley expects Badger band to shape up

October 12, 2006 By WRN Contributor

The UW Madison band has some new marching orders.

That from UW Chancellor John Wiley, in the wake of what Wiley's chief of staff Casey Nagey characterized as “a recurrent pattern of behavior . . during travel and off site activities.”Accounts of just what band members are alleged to have done have been short on specifics, although “hazing” has been referenced. Nagey said Wiley addressed a broader range of concerns than just hazing — and he expects no further reports of behavior that violates the code of conduct which all members are required to embrace as members of the band. Casey Nagy and Band Director Mike Leckrone will hold a media briefing Thursday afternoon to discuss recent issues and answer questions involving band conduct.
