Badger women win exhibition opener

November 3, 2006 By WRN Contributor

The Wisconsin Badger women's basketball team got off to a slow start but eventually pulled away to beat UW-Stevens Point 77-58 in women's college exhibition basketball.

Stevens Point jumped out to a 19-6 lead, but the Badgers rebounded to pull within 2-points at the half.  Wisconsin then tightened up the defense, allowing the Pointers just 1-point in the first five minutes of the second half.

Janese Banks lead the way for the Badgers, collecting 17 points and five steals on the night.

The Badgers will close out their exhibition schedule by facing Winona State at the Kohl Center on Sunday afternoon.
