Brewers sign Counsell

November 29, 2006 By WRN Contributor

The Milwaukee Brewers today signed infielder Craig Counsell to a 2-year contract with a club option for 2009.

It's the second stint in Milwaukee for the 36 year old Counsell, who also played for the Brewers in 2004.

Counsell, a member of two World Series Championship teams, owns a career average of .260 with 31 HR, 283 RBI and 90 stolen bases over 11 Major League seasons with Colorado, Florida, Los Angeles, Arizona and Milwaukee.

His postseason highlights include scoring the game-winning run in the bottom of the 11th inning in the 1997 World Series for Florida and being named Most Valuable Player of the 2001 National League Championship Series for Arizona.

Counsell graduated from Whitefish Bay High School in 1988 and currently resides in Whitefish Bay.
