Challenges expected in lost Assembly races

November 15, 2006 By WRN Contributor

Assembly Speaker-elect Mike Huebsch (R-West Salem) says some lost seats are still too close to call and Republicans will get involved in challenges of those results. Republicans lost a close contest in the 43rd District, with

State Representative Debi Towns (R-Janesville) losing her seat by nine votes. State Representative Judy Krawczyk (R-Green Bay) also fell to her Democrat challenger in the 88th District by 78 votes. Democrats are also expected to challenge a win by State Representative Lee Nerison (R-Westby), who held on to his seat by about 300 votes.

Republicans retained control of the Assembly despite those losses. Huebsch says any challenges are about making sure those races were counted correctly and the will of the people is being done. Huebsch says those races should be decided by the end of November.
