Green says he's proud of his campaign effort

November 8, 2006 By WRN Contributor

The race for Wisconsin governor was close throughout the evening, and Republican candidate Mark Green says his campaign faced tough odds in their effort to unseat incumbent Governor Jim Doyle. But those efforts fell short Tuesday night, as Doyle pulled ahead to defeat Green in the statewide vote.

In his concession speech, Green pointed to the many challenges faced by his campaign, such as record spending from the candidates and others. He also briefly commented on the State Elections Board and their order to make Green divest $486,000 in cash transferred from his Congressional campaign fund.

Speaking at the Comfort Suites Hotel in Green Bay, Green said he was proud of the effort put in by his campaign and how they managed to force a debate on the key issues facing Wisconsin. Green says those issues must remain in the minds of lawmakers and the public as they work to protect the blessing that Wisconsin is to many people.
