Packers' Ryan visits ailing father

November 30, 2006 By WRN Contributor

Green Bay Packers punter Jon Ryan missed practice on Wednesday to be with his ailing father, who is dying of cancer.

Ryan and his girlfriend flew on a private jet to Regina, Saskatchewan on Tuesday, shortly after the Packers returned from the Monday night loss in Seattle.  Ryan got to spend time with his father, Bob, who was diagnosed with terminal cancer last August.

Third string quarterback Ingle Martin handled punting duties at Wednesday's practice.  Martin did some punting at Furman University last season.
