Stocco is semifinalist for Davey O'Brien Award

November 8, 2006 By WRN Contributor

Wisconsin Badger senior quarterback John Stocco is one of 18 semifinalists for the Davey O'Brien Award, which is presented annually to the nation's best college quarterback.  Stocco wasn't originally on the awards "watch list" and instead was a write-in candidate.

Stocco owns a 28-7 record as the Badgers quarterback and has made 35-straight starts.  That streak could be in jeopardy however when the Badgers face Iowa in Iowa City on Saturday.  Published reports indicate that Stocco suffered a seperated shoulder and two broken ribs in last weeks win over Penn State.  University officials have not confirmed the injuries or Stocco's availability for Saturday.
