Stratford wins record 4th straight title

November 17, 2006 By WRN Contributor

The Stratford Tigers became the first team in WIAA State Football Championship history to win four straight titles.  The Tigers build a 12-point lead and then held on at the end for a 26-24 win over Deerfield in the Division 6 title game.

Deerfield made a game of it, scoring 10 points in the final couple of minutes but needed to recover an onside kick to get the ball back one final time and came up empty.  A part of that late comeback came when Jeremy Roach ran a kickoff back 64 yards for a touchdown, then followed it with a 2-point conversion with :55 left.
