The last campaign day: The incumbent's view

November 6, 2006 By WRN Contributor

The final day of campaigning and how does the incumbent spend his time? Trying to get out the vote. And if he can persuade an undecided voter or two, that wouldn't hurt.

It's still considered a close race but Governor Doyle thinks he's been able to cut through what he calls the divisiveness and get his message out. One that paints him as someone who's been able to balance the state budget while finding funds for education and other services.

Doyle says the "other side" has been very good at diverting attention from the issues because it's not easy for a republican congressman to talk about what he's done while in an unpopular republican congress.

Is voter turnout the key to a Doyle re-election? The governor says they've been working very hard at it and we'll see Tuesday night.
