Explosion kills three, injures dozens more

December 6, 2006 By WRN Contributor

Crews continue to sift through the debris, after an explosion this morning destroyed a warehouse and killed three people at Milwaukee's Falk Complex. City and state inspectors are on the scene and continue to investigate the cause of the blast. The explosion at 8:07 this morning is believed to have originated at a propane tank by the wooden warehouse.

City of Milwaukee spokeswoman Eileen Force says three bodies have been recovered so far, although crews are still going through the wreckage. At least 37 people were transported from the scene with injuries, although several have already been treated and released. Officials are not commenting on how many workers are unaccounted for at this time, although the facility employs nearly 700 workers. Force says the blast appears to be nothing but a tragic accident, and officials don't suspect any criminal behavior at this time.
