Health care reform and recommendations for the 2007 farm bill will are top agenda items as the Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation meets this week. Some 500 farmers members of the state's largest farm group are attending the annual meeting in Middleton. Farm Bureau's Tom Theiding, who says major changes will be sought in the 2007 federal farm bill, to make farm subsidies more of a risk management program, and with a third of Wisconsin farmers uninsured or underinsured, health care reform will be a hot topic. The need is there, and Theiding says Farm Bureau members would like the next couple of years to show a real start towards health care reform, not just more discussions.
Farm Bureau's annual meeting continues today and Tuesday at the Middlton Marriott.
