Green Bay women edge Wisconsin

December 14, 2006 By WRN Contributor

The UW-Green Bay Lady Phoenix pulled off a mild upset, knocking off the Wisconsin Badgers 70-66 before a record crowd of 5,197 at the Resch Center in Green Bay on Wednesday night.

Green Bay built a 23-point lead midway through the second half, then started to play not to lose.  That conservative approach almost cost the Phoenix the game, but the Lady Badgers ran out of time in their comeback attempt.  Wisconsin outscored Green Bay 24-5 down the stretch.

UW-Green Bay finished 3-0 against the Big Ten in the non-conference portion of their schedule, improving to 6-3.  Nicole Soulis had 17 to lead the Phoenix.

Jolene Anderson led all scorers for the Badgers (10-2) with 23 points.
