Packers season will end in Chicago tonight

December 31, 2006 By WRN Contributor

There'll be no post-season for the Green Bay Packers this season.  Green Bay's playoff hopes were dealt a serious blow when the New York Giants beat the Washington Redskins on Saturday night.

The Packers post season hopes officially ended this afternoon when the St. Louis Rams beat Minnesota, Carolina beat New Orleans and Houston knocked off Cleveland in the noon games.

That means the Packers will face the Bears tonight in Chicago with only pride on the line, a chance to win four straight to end the season, and finish at .500 with an 8-8 record.  Packers coach Mike McCarthy said this week that a win and a .500 record would allow them to carry some positive momentum into the off-season.
