Packers to install new turf at Lambeau Field

December 8, 2006 By WRN Contributor

The Green Bay Packers announced Thursday that they will switch to a new grass surface at Lambeau Field that includes synthetic fibers.

The new turf will be installed in time for next season.  It'll be installed on top of a completely new drainage and heating system. That new system will be identical to the playing surface at Clark Hinkle Field.

The decision comes after several years of sodding and resodding Lambeau Field.  In fact, the Packers resodded the middle third of the field this week in time for the teams next home game against Detroit on Dec. 17.
