Rep. Kind appointed to Ways and Means Committee

December 14, 2006 By WRN Contributor

Wisconsin's Congressional delegation is positioned to be a strong player in the coming session. US Representative Ron Kind (D-WI) says Wisconsinites will take up key positions when lawmakers return to Washington D.C. as part of the 110th Congress. Kind will serve on the Ways and Means Committee, Rep. Dave Obey is chairing Appropriations, Rep. Tammy Baldwin is on Commerce, and Rep. Steve Kagen is on Transportation. Kind says that puts the Wisconsin delegation in a good position heading in to next year.

Kind says Wisconsin often gets shorted when it comes to federal funding because the state is so efficient with its own programs. Still, he's hoping to make sure funding formulas give Wisconsin a fair share of federal dollars.
