Drunk driver plows into home

January 9, 2007 By WRN Contributor

A Neillsville couple's home suffered thousands-of-dollars of damages when a drunk driver drove a van into the house Monday afternoon. Jessica and Luis De La Cruz were in their home when a van driven by a 65-year-old Neillsville man plowed into the house shortly after noon. The driver crossed a lane of traffic and jumped the curb before striking the house located on Neillsville 's main street. While no one was injured, the couple said it was a frightening experience. "All of a sudden the house was shaking, things were falling in the living room, the cat was freaking out," said Jessica De La Cruz. "I thought the house was falling down," said Luis. The impact destroyed the home's front porch, broke windows and damaged the roof. Clark County deputies took the driver into custody on suspicion of drunk driving.
