Hockey Badgers settle for split with top ranked Gophers

January 15, 2007 By WRN Contributor

The Wisconsin Badger men's hockey team split with #1 ranked Minnesota, winning 2-1 on Friday and losing 1-0 Saturday night.

Ross Carlson scored both Wisconsin goals handing the Gophers their first conference loss of the season on Friday night.  It also ended Minnesota's 22-game unbeaten streak.

The win is Wisconsin's 1,000th game since restarting the program in 1963.  The Badgers finished the night 2 for 4 on the power play.

Unfortunately, the Badgers didn't come out ready to play on Saturday night and fell to the Gophers 1-0.

Had the Badgers pulled off the sweep, they would have been sitting at .500 overall today.  Instead, they're 10-12-2 overall, 7-8-1 in the WCHA.  Wisconsin is off this weekend before hosting Minnesota-State in two weeks.
