January 3, 2007 By WRN Contributor

Todd Kowalczyk The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay Phoenix shot just 18% from the field in the second half, 8% from three-point range and dropped their Horizon League home opener 60-42 to Detroit.

The Phoenix are the league's best three point shooting team, but hit just 4 of their 20 three point shots on the night.  They went scoreless in the first 6 minutes 27 seconds of the second half, allowing Detroit to open a big lead and coast to victory.

Brandon Cotton scored 24 points to lead all scorers in the win.  Josh Lawrence returned to the Green Bay lineup and scored 12 points in the loss.

Green Bay is off to a 0-2 start in Horizon League play, 8-7 overall.  They'll return home Saturday night to face Cleveland State at the Resch Center.
