UW-Green Bay women crack top 25

January 30, 2007 By WRN Contributor

For the third time in five seasons, the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay women's basketball team has found a home in the Associated Press top 25 poll.  The Phoenix earned the No. 24 spot in the poll thanks to its 17-3 record and 14-game winning streak.

The team's last appearance came in 2004-05, when the Phoenix was listed for six weeks before finishing the year ranked 24th in the nation.  UW-Green Bay made its highest appearance in 2002-03, when it made its first top 25 listing in program history and then vaulted to 16th in the country.  The 2002-03 squad proceeded to gain the program's first-ever NCAA tournament win and finished the year ranked 21st overall.

Green Bay returns to action on Saturday night against Detroit at the Phoenix Sports Center.
