Do the Packers really need Randy Moss?

February 9, 2007 By WRN Contributor

I'm hearing a shocking number of people call for the Packers to acquire wide receiver Randy Moss.  I'm not sure if I'm surprised by that or not.

When Randy Moss was with the Vikings, Packers fans used to jeer Moss for his lack of ambition.  When Moss didn't get the ball thrown his way early on, he would go into a shell and stop hustling.  His route running took a major turn for the worse.  And that hasn't changed.

We all know Moss is one of the most talented receivers in all of football, when he wants to play.  When his mind is in it, he's a major difference maker.  But too many times, I've seen Moss go into a shell and not return.

Is this really what you want Packers fan?  Is that what you're stooping to?

I hear too many people saying it's worth a try.  Is it?  With such a young roster, do you really want a guy like Randy Moss and his infectious poor attitude, to make his way to Green Bay?

I want the Packers to win, but I want them to win the right way and not the wrong way.  If Ted Thompson makes this move, he'll only have himself to blame.
