A precautionary lockdown at a state prison is expected to last several more days. Department of Corrections spokesman John Dipko says the Green Bay Correctional Institution has been in lockdown since last Friday, for a “thorough and complete investigation, into some information that was received regarding potential disruptive behavior by inmates.”
Dipko says the lockdown at the maximum security prison located in suburban Allouez “is precautionary in nature,” and credits the vigilance of staff there for taking the needed measures. Inmates are confined to their cells or residential units, although visitation is still being allowed. Dipko says the investigation by prison staff includes searches of cells and other areas of the prison. They will also be conducting interviews with inmates. The Green Bay prison has a capacity of 1067 inmates.
