House debate continues on the Iraq war resolution, and Wisconsin Congressman Dave Obey steps into the fray. The veteran Democrat from Wausau said he's tired of being lectured, by proponents of the failed Bush strategy in Iraq. "I'm tired of the manipulation of intelligence by this administration," said Obey. "I'm tired of the stubbornness of an administration that didn't have a clue about the Middle East realities when they got us into this mess, and don't have a clue about how to get us out."
Obey said the U.S. cannot convince Iraq's factions to reach political compromise, and suggests a message to them; "that if they do not amend their constitution, to allow for a loose confederation, with an oil sharing agreement between the Sunnis and the Shiites, that we will leave them to each others tender mercies." Obey said "there will be no happy endings" to the war in Iraq, because President Bush's policy "has done so much damage, that there is no good way" for the U.S. to get out. [Audio C-SPAN]
