Oh Jimmy! Six more weeks of winter.

February 2, 2007 By WRN Contributor

Jimmy the groundhog “By groundhog instinct, by groundhog law, by the frostbite forming on my paw, I see my shadow, that's for sure. A six week nap looks like the cure!”

As the coldest weather of the season sweeps into Wisconsin, Jimmy the Groundhog in Sun Prairie has made his Groundhogs Day prediction. The furry forecaster, with Sun Prairie Mayor Joe Chase acting as interpreter, saw his shadow and planned six more weeks of hibernation. At least for the short term, Jimmy would seem to be right on the money; frigid weather will settle in across Wisconsin for the next five to seven days, with daytime highs only in the single digits this weekend, and nighttime lows in the double digits below zero most everywhere.
