Record spending in attorney general race

February 8, 2007 By WRN Contributor

Last year’s race for Attorney General was an expensive one. Mike McCabe of the Wisconsin Democracy Campaign says there was record spending; $8.3 million

McCabe says it all didn’t come from the candidates, as Republican J-B Van Hollen defeated Democrat Kathleen Falk. He says nearly $3.5 million was spent by special interest groups on "ugly, negative ads." Republican winner J-B Van Hollen and Democrat Kathleen Falk spent about $1.7 million each. [ WIBA 's John Colbert contributed this story]
