Senate Republicans outline agenda

February 9, 2007 By WRN Contributor

Senate Minority Leader Scott Fitzgerald (R-Juneau) says taxes, economic development, and improving fiscal responsibility are among the top priorities for Republicans in the 2007-2008 legislative session. He says tax payers have been getting the short end of the stick for too long. The Juneau Republicans says the governor's expected plans to boost state spending and possibly raise property taxes are the wrong priorities for Wisconsin.

Fitzgerald says Republicans want to create a budget that protects taxpayers and work to make health care more affordable in the state. He says there's also concerns about plans from the Governor to change the caps put in place on property tax increases. Fitzgerald says the state needs to get its fiscal house in order.
