The US Department of Health and Human Services is letting Wisconsinites' know their calls to save SeniorCare are being heard. A message added to the Department's automated phone line this week specifically mentions the program and invites callers to share their concerns about the future of the program. SeniorCare is currently set to expire in June, when a federal waiver for the program ends. However, state officials have been lobbying the federal government to keep the program going.
Senate Majority Leader Judy Robson (D-Beloit) says the personal message make it clear that efforts to show support for SeniorCare are paying off. The Beloit Democrat says it's good to know that Wisconsin families are making their voiced heard in Washington. Several groups have organized call-in campaigns, in an attempt to keep SeniorCare alive, rather than pushing Wisconsinites to the Federal Medicare Part D prescription drug program. Robson expects calls from concerned residents to increase in the coming weeks. She believes they can sustain the effort to make federal officials aware of the importance of SeniorCare to the state.
