Heavy snow for most of the state

March 1, 2007 By WRN Contributor

Winter is making a comeback in Wisconsin. A second major storm is moving into the state.

This latest storm is just the northern tip of a huge system that's wreaking havoc across the country.

Greg Davis at the National Weather Service in Sullivan, Wisconsin says the strong system is producing severe weather from the Tennessee Valley to the Gulf Coast. Some tornadoes have been reported in Missouri.

For the upper Midwest, Davis says it's heavy snow. There's blizzard warning for Douglas County and a winter storm warning for the west, central and northwest parts of the state through Friday. There could be an additional 8 to 12 inches by tomorrow.

Rain is predicted for much of the south today raising fears of flooding with the snow-pack already on the ground. That too will turn to snow later tonight.

But next week, Davis says there will a warming trend with temperatures in the 40's by next Monday in the southeast.
