Minneral Point to share Division 3 Team Wrestling title

March 7, 2007 By WRN Contributor

The WIAA has declared Minneral Point and Cadott co-champions in Division 3 following the State Team Wrestling Tournament in Madison last weekend.

At the conclusion of the competition Saturday, Cadott received the State Tournament Championship troph after the dual meet ended in a tie at 31-31.

WIAA officials applied dual meet tie-breaking procedures outlined by the National Federation of State High School Associations for regular-season competition to determine a winner by criteria.  Cadott was announced the champion with a point awarded for criteria, 32-31.  However, WIAA Winter Season Regulations states co-champions will be declared if there is a tie in the final match of the State Tournament.

The policy had not been applied since the State Team Wrestling Tournament dual format was developed in 1992 to determine a team champion.
