Senate GOP has questions for DOT Secretary

March 8, 2007 By WRN Contributor

Questions aplenty for Governor Jim Doyle's Secretary of Transportation, Frank Busalacchi , who is up for a reconfirmation vote by the state Senate next week. Questions about whether Buscalachi was carrying water for Doyle, by providing DOT assistance to federally indicted businessman Dennis Troha. "Frank Busalacchi does not deserve to be hung out to dry by this governor," says Senator Mike Ellis (R-Neenah).

"I'm starting hear from my members, that they have a number of questions that they'd like to ask the secretary, about what the FBI is investigating right now," says Senate Minority Leader Scott Fitzgerald (R-Juneau). For example, Busalacchi reportedly said that the state spent less than $500 to send a DOT attorney to Pennsylvania, on behalf of Troha. "If anybody believes that, they're going to believe I can dunk a basketball," says Ellis, who's sent a letter to Busalacchi . Fitzgerald sent a request to Majority Leader Judy Robson (D-Beloit), asking her to delay the reconfirmation vote, and schedule a public hearing.
