Another bid for legislative approval of off reservation casino projects. Current state law gives final approval for such projects to the governor, with no role for the legislature.
Caledonia Republican, state Representative Robin Vos , will reintroduce a measure similar to a bill which passed the Assembly and Senate last session, and which was vetoed by Governor Doyle . Assembly Speaker Mike Huebsch expects the bill to advance relatively quickly, with floor action by April
Vos insists this is not a partisan issue; that legislators should have a say on casino siting, regardless of which party holds the governor's office. His proposed bill has already picked up support of several other members of the Assembly, all of them Republicans.
