Brewers knock off Cubs again

April 25, 2007 By WRN Contributor

Prince Fielder homered for the 3rd time in the last two games, helping to lead the Milwaukee Brewers to a 4-1 win over the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field on Tuesday night.

Fielder's 2-run shot in the 4th ended a 19-inning scoreless streak for Cubs starter Rich Hill.  Kevin Mench also added a solo homer in the 6th.

Jeff Suppan picked up his 3rd straight win, pitching shutout baseball through 8 innings.  He improved to 3-2.  Francisco Cordero struck out the only batter he faced to pick up his 8th save.

The Brewers have now won 4-straight and 6 of their last 7.  They have a 3 1/2 game lead on Cincinnati in the NL Central.  At 13-7, it's the first time the Brewers have been six games over .500 since July 1st of 2004.  That record is also tied for the 2nd best in the Major Leagues, just 1/2 game behind the 13-6 New York Mets.
