Casillas on Lott Trophy watch list

April 13, 2007 By WRN Contributor

Wisconsin Badger Junior linebacker Jonathan Casillas, has been named to the preseason watch list for the 2007 Lott Trophy.

The Lott Trophy, named after Hall of Fame defensive back Ronnie Lott, is awarded to college football's Defensive IMPACT Player of the Year.  The award is given to a player who exhibits the same characteristics Lott embodied during his distinguished career: Integrity, Maturity, Performance, Academics, Community and Tenacity.

Casillas started all 13 games for the Badgers last season and finished as the team's third leading tackler with 83, including a team-high 12.5 for loss.

This years winner will be announced at a gala black-tie banquet at The Pacific Club in Newport Beach, California, on Dec. 9, 2007.
