Cubs avoid sweep, beat Brewers

April 26, 2007 By WRN Contributor

After a 71-minute rain delay, the Brewers and Cubs played baseball at Wrigley Field, but the Brewers are probably wishing they hadn't.

Milwaukee saw its 4-game win streak come to an end, falling to the Cubs 9-3 at Wrigley Field yesterday.

Ben Sheets held the Cubs scoreless through three, but then left the game with a groin strain.  The Brewers overworked bullpen struggled and the Cubs got to them right away, scoring 5 runs in the fourth and they didn't look back.

All told, the Cubs pounded out 16 hits, and put an end to their 3-game losing streak.

Ted Lilly (2-2) picked up the win, allowing 6 hits and 1 earned run over 7-innings.

The Brewers are off today.  They'll open a 3-game series in Houston against the Astros Friday night.
