Guilty verdict for Brendan Dassey

April 26, 2007 By WRN Contributor

After four and a half hours of deliberation, the jury in Manitowoc County found 17 year old Brendan Dassey guilty in the murder of photographer Teresa Halbach.

Deciding that Dassey did help his uncle Steven Avery kill Halbach, the jury convicted the teen on all three charges. Homicide, mutilating a corpse, and sexual assault. Halbach was murdered on Halloween 2005.

Halbach’s brother Mike said his family got the verdicts it wanted. Dassey’s mother claimed the boy was set up. Attorney Mark Fremgen said it would be up to Dassey whether to appeal.

Sentencing is set for August sixth.
