Justice Wilcox looks ahead

April 2, 2007 By WRN Contributor

When State Supreme Court Justice Jon Wilcox steps down August first he will cap a long and distinguished career on the bench.

Justice Wilcox was first appointed to the state's high court in 1992 by Governor Thompson and won re-election in 1997. He says it's been a pleasure to serve.

Soon to be 71, Justice Wilcox couldn't see himself serving another 10 year term, so he decided to retire.

Justice Wilcox says he will take a deep breath and relax for the first sixty days then he has options to teach, write or travel. Plus he has grandchildren he would like to see more.

Justice Wilcox's term expires July 31st.  But he may not give up the judicial life entirely. He has the option of being a reserve judge or getting involved in arbitration.
