Manufacturers meet to discuss strength of industry

April 24, 2007 By WRN Contributor

Wisconsin manufacturers are meeting this week at the 10th annual Manufacturing Matters! conference in Milwaukee. The event focuses on innovation and expanding the role Wisconsin businesses can play in the global market. Wisconsin Manufacturing Extension Partnership executive director Mike Klonsinski says the event is a celebration of businesses in the state, but also looks at how they can stand out in a tough economy.

Despite some tough economic times, Klonsinski says Wisconsin manufacturers are thriving. He point to the 2007 new economy survey, which ranked Wisconsin highly in entrepreneurial growth. Many manufacturers are also exporting their products to new markets.

Klonsinski says the conference can give manufacturers the tools they need to compete. Nearly 750 business leaders are expected to attend for workshops and a keynote speech from New York Times best-selling author Oren Harari. The event runs all day Wednesday in Milwaukee.
