Kevin Mench clubbed a go-ahead two-run homer off of Randy Wolf in the sixth inning last night, lifting the Milwaukee Brewers to a 4-3 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers at Miller Park.
The Brewers trailed by a run in the 6th when catcher Johnny Estrada beat out an infield single and scored on Mench's long ball. It's the second straight win to start the season for the Brewers.
The win goes to Brian Shouse (1-0) in relief. He came in with the bases loaded and two outs in the top of the sixth and got Juan Pierre to ground into a forceout at second base. Shouse was followed out of the bullpen by Rick Wise, Derrick Turnbow and Francisco Cordero to close out the win.
Russell Martin had a big night in the loss for the Dodgers in the loss. Martin clubbed his first home run of the season to go along with three hits.
The Brewers shoot for the sweep tonight against the Dodgers. Jeff Suppan makes his first start as a member of the Brewers after signing as a free agent in the off-season.
